Restoration Correct Original AC Delco Part Correct Fit And Finish Fits V8 Engine Made In USA Is your 1978-1983 Malibu or Chevelle running rough? A distributor pick up coil is a part of a vehicle's ignition system, which routes the voltage from the ignition coil to the spark plugs to enable them to fire in sequence. The distributor pick up coil determines the spark plug firing order as it spins with a magnetic sensor that is housed in a metal rotor that has windows (corresponding to the number of cylinders in the engine) on the distributor shaft. The shaft spins via a gear that is run by the camshaft. The windows pass in front of the sensor which magnetically triggers the ignition system to fire a spark at the correct spark plug. Don't trust just any replacement part for your 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983 Malibu or Chevelle, use the part that came on your ride when it was fresh from the factory.
