GM engineers found that the fan operation created a safety hazard for tired drivers falling asleep at the wheel. Because of this, the design was changed to a 4 prong to eliminate the use of this function. This 4 prong design is the GM replacement. You slap your dash and belt out a few obscenities or something like that. It could be your blower motor, or the wiring, but most likely it?s the blower motor switch.
